1. The Chronicles of Narnia
Where to watch: Jio Hotstar, U/A 7+
This is one rare film that gives us the opportunity to escape and immerse ourselves in the magical and whimsical world of Narnia. Four siblings and a dream land for any mystic out there. What makes it even more fascinating is that it captures the childlike innocence, the adventure of a lifetime, and the desire to talk to animals while growing up.

Moreover, it’s a story where you get to believe that magic begins where limitation dares to believe. Directed by Andrew Adamson, it’s one great story wrapped in wonder, love, trust, and magic.
2. Before Trilogy
Where to watch: Prime Video, 16+
Some love stories entertain you, some give you butterflies in the stomach, and there are the ones like the Before trilogy. The three movies – Before Sunset, Before Sunrise, and Before Midnight – leave a strong impact on you and if you are someone like me, it will change your perception towards love.

The trilogy, starring Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke, is an example of an extraordinary script that foreshadows what happens next. The conversation, the look in their eyes while speaking about random things in the world, is not only just perfect but also painfully human. All you need to do is fire up this series on your home projector and let the feeling of love engulf you.
Long story short, if you are up for a real and raw romantic encounter of two strangers in a whole different country where words slowly become heartbeat, every glance a promise – then this is for you. Add to that the stellar performance of Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke, and this trilogy is the perfect binge-worthy series that should be on your must-watch list this Christmas.
3. Eat, Pray, and Love
Where to watch: Prime, U/A 16+
If you ask me, this movie is perhaps one of Julia Roberts’ finest works. And if you are someone who’s going through a lot of hardships and just wants to escape from reality, I suggest you sit down with a warm cup of soup and watch Eat, Pray & Love.
This is a brilliant story about finding and rediscovering yourself in a whole different dimension. A blend of marvelous soulful introspection and beautiful destination that feels like a warm hug – one prayer at a time.
4. It’s a Wonderful Life
Where to watch: Prime, U/A 13+
This film, released in 1946, was shot in crisp black and white by cinematographer Joseph Biroc and trust me when I say that it gives you the right amount of Christmas vibes.
George Bailey’s journey is not exactly a Christmas fairy tale but a mirror held to the audience who have felt tired and unsure of everything around. It conveys the crucial elements of life – being kind when life tastes sour, while at the same time, being optimistic when surrounded by darkness and misery. In short, it’s that kind of film that leaves you feeling a lot lighter and optimistic.
5. Ghosted
Where to watch: Apple TV+, U/A 16+
Have you heard the term “ghosting” from anyone? In this movie, our very own Captain America, played by Chris Evans, falls in love with a mysterious girl. What happens next is our hero, with the intention of confessing the truth, and BAM! He is kidnapped. Not kidding.

Ghosted is one amazing film to de-stress during the Christmas season. A nearly perfect amalgamation of drama, comedy, and steamy romance, coupled with action.
6. The Quiet Place (Part I & II)
Where to watch: Prime, U/A 16+
Christmas is usually associated with warmth and being surrounded by your loved ones. A Quiet Place taps into those exact emotions, but in a very different way. At its core, the film is about family, protection, sacrifice, and the lengths we go to keep our loved ones safe.

However, instead of a warm and cozy environment, you will find yourself staring at a post-apocalyptic world, where resources are scarce and hope is fading away with each passing day. And to live in this world, you have one rule – to completely live in silence. Otherwise, they will hear you and tear you apart.
Both Emily Blunt and John Krasinski shine bright in these films, with their convincing acting that you will not be able to make a single noise. The storyline is meticulously scripted and executed. Interestingly, Cillian Murphy debuts in the second part and unleashes more layers of it.
7. Sumala
Where to watch: Netflix, A
Sumala is not your average Christmas movie. If you are someone like me who also loves to watch their fair share of horror movies in the run up to Christmas, then you should go for it.

This brilliant horror-thriller takes place in a Javanese village. Imagine you know a couple who are desperate for children, so much so that they make a pact with a devil. Years later, the pact seems to be the horrific decision that shakes their world upside-down.
A very underrated film that blends folk horror cinema and deep human emotions into a chilling supernatural thriller.
8. Meiyazhagan
Where to watch: Netflix, U/A 7+
Are you someone who loves a totally nostalgic movie filled with raw emotions and pure bromance? Then Arvind Swamy’s Meiyazhagan is one of those feel-good Christmas movies that you can watch on Netflix.
Watching it will make you feel like flipping through an old album and soaking in all the good vibes. It is not dramatic. Instead, it’s raw, emotional, and healing at the same time. As the weekends build up to Christmas, this is the kind of film that fits perfectly into slow evenings at home. Make yourself something warm to drink, switch the lights to a softer glow, and play it on your smart TV (read Lumio Vision 7 Smart TV review) so the experience feels more intimate and comforting
9. Julie and Julia
Where to watch: Prime, U/A 13+
Julie and Julia is a delicious tale of passion, purpose, and food delicacies. It is the kind of film that you watch while having a good banoffee pie or apple pie. Played by a brilliant actress who holds a record for 7 times Academy Award nominee – Meryl Streep, along with Amy Adams.

What makes this cozy Christmas film so irresistible is the way both of them find meaning and purpose amidst the chaos. The joy of finding yourself through love and following your calling is beautifully shown through each scene. This film is all about doing what makes your soul happy!
The Warmth of Watching Together
When the world slows down and glows a little softer, when happiness echoes through every corner of the street, there’s nothing more soothing than having your favourite hot chocolate and watching a movie. These are not your typical Christmas movies.
That said, these feel-good movies across Netflix, Prime, and Jio Hotstar are going to not only entertain but also remind you that there is still goodness left in the world. So, this Christmas, skip the chaotic rush. Instead, pour yourself some hot chocolate and immerse yourself in it. One frame at a time.
