The iPhone 17 Air has created the right amount of buzz, all thanks to its ultra-slim design. Tecno has taken things a step further by packing a massive 5,160mAh battery into a stunningly thin 5.95mm frame. And this begs the question – is the Pova Slim really the world’s thinnest smartphone?
The answer is yes. As of now, there are no other commercially available phones that combine such slimness with a high-capacity battery. That said, slimness and battery are not the only features that make this 2025 smartphone stand out.
On that note, here’s our first impression of the Tecno Pova Slim.
Ultra-Slim Design and Build
At just 5.95mm thin, the Pova Slim feels almost futuristic in the hand, and the LED lights at the back add to the futuristic feel.
Despite its thin profile, it remains sturdy and well-balanced, allowing for comfortable single-handed use. At the same time, the slightly curved bezels also improve grip and prevent accidental slips. But since the phone is extremely slim, you may experience slips once in a while.
The best part is that Tecno has infused its own subtle identity, which makes this budget smartphone instantly recognizable. Additionally, the phone’s lightweight profile complements its slimness, and this was one of the first things we noticed when we held the phone.
Nowadays, where most phone manufacturers are busy slimming down their retail boxes, this slim phone houses almost everything inside its box from a charger to a 3D screen protector including a sturdy phone case!
Display: A Visual Treat, Almost!
The Pova Slim incorporates a 1.5K resolution 144Hz 3D Curved AMOLED panel, which is a delight to stare at. Scrolling and watching videos feel exceptionally smooth, and the AMOLED screen ensures that things appear rich and vibrant.
While movies appear rich and detailed, sadly, in our initial testing, we could not fathom that the display does not support HDR on YouTube and Netflix. We hope that a future OTA update will resolve this, as the display is too impressive to miss out on HDR support.

Battery and Charging
One of the most remarkable aspects of the Pova Slim is how it fits a 5,160mAh battery into such a thin frame. While it is too early to say how long the battery will last, our calculations suggest that it can easily last through the day. Of course, this will depend on usage.
The Tecno Pova Slim supports fast charging at 45W. The good thing? The charger comes included in the box. This is a thoughtful addition that saves extra cost and inconvenience, especially today, when phone companies have started to go the “minimal” way.
Performance: Smooth for Daily Use
Under the hood, the Tecno Pova Slim houses the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset and should be able to handle social media, browsing, and casual gaming without significant lag. More on our full review.
The Pova Slim also packs sufficient RAM and storage options, and based on our initial testing, it delivered a responsive experience.
Unique Features: Dynamic Lights
Lastly, let’s talk about its standout feature – “Dynamic Lights.” The Pova Slim features a cool ring of light around its camera module, which adds to its futuristic looks. Apart from responding to calls, notifications, and even user interactions, these dynamic lights add a lively and premium feel. This is especially true for phones under the INR 20K price segment in India. If you ask us, this small design touch makes the device feel more interactive and futuristic.
Price and Availability
Priced under INR 20,000, the Tecno Pova Slim delivers a combination of style and performance that is a tad difficult to come by at this price point.
