Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S26 FE, the newest phone in its Galaxy S26 family. It is the first S26 device to launch with One UI 9, bringing flagship-level camera tools and AI features to a wider group of users.

Jay Kim, who leads Samsung’s Customer Experience Office for its Mobile eXperience business, said the phone was built to keep the core strengths of the Galaxy S series while focusing on features that make a real difference in daily use.

Better Photos, Easier Editing

For photography, the Galaxy S26 FE gets a major upgrade. It supports My FanCam, which is a tool that first appeared on Samsung’s foldable phones.

It helps in tracking a chosen person in a video and keeps them in frame automatically.

For video shooting, you get Super Steady with Horizontal Lock, which keeps footage level during fast movement.

Additionally, the phone also offers 3x optical zoom and a 12MP front camera for selfies. Nightography, which is Samsung’s low-light photography feature, returns as well.

For editing, Photo Assist lets users edit images using simple text prompts, such as changing day to night or adding missing elements. Gemini Omni is also built in, letting users turn photos and videos from their gallery into short, shareable clips.

Smarter, More Personal AI

Running on One UI 9, the phone focuses heavily on Galaxy AI. Now Brief, first seen on the Galaxy S25 series, becomes more personal. Users can now build their own briefing cards using simple prompts.

Now Nudge, which gives users timely suggestions, works with more third-party apps.

Other than that, Circle to Search with Google has also improved, letting users search for several items in one image at once.

Battery and Display Built for All-Day Use

The display is a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

This can be a drawback: Samsung has still not increased the battery capacity. The Samsung S26 FE is powered by a small 4,900mAh battery with a 45W charger.

Easy Switching and Long-Term Support

Samsung has also improved Smart Switch, letting users move from Android or iPhone by simply scanning a QR code. This transfers passwords, passkeys, call history, and even eSIM data without extra apps.

Samsung is also promising long-term support. The Galaxy S26 FE will receive up to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.

Buyers can also opt into Samsung Care+ for extra device protection, and the phone comes with a six-month free trial of Google AI Pro.

Is It Worth Waiting For?

For anyone currently using an older Galaxy phone, the S26 FE looks like a smart middle ground. It brings flagship features like Nightography, Photo Assist, and the latest One UI 9 software, but likely at a lower price than the standard Galaxy S26 models.

The long software support window is a strong selling point too. Seven years of security updates means the phone should stay usable and safe for a long time, which is rare at this price tier.

That said, buyers should consider a few things before deciding. The processor is an Exynos chip rather than a Snapdragon, which in some markets has historically meant a slight difference in performance and battery efficiency.

For most everyday users who care about a good camera, smooth software, and reliable long-term updates, the wait for the Galaxy S26 FE seems worth it.
