With the emerging trend of advanced on-device AI experiences, Nubia has joined the race and unveiled a new phone named the NaviX Ultra. The company calls it the world’s first true AI agent smartphone.
The phone was displayed at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026 in Shanghai, China. The phone even won the SAIL Award, a top honour for AI innovation at the event.
Let us take a look at the specifications and on-device AI experience offered with the Nubia NaviX Ultra.
What Makes It Different
Most AI phones today only respond when you ask them something. You type or speak a command, and the phone does one small task.
The NaviX Ultra tries to go further. It is built around a system-level AI agent. This means the AI can understand what you want and complete several steps on its own, across different apps.

For example, it could compare prices, book a trip, or order food without you tapping through each app.
Moreover, Nubia built this phone with ByteDance, the company behind TikTok. The phone runs ByteDance’s Doubao AI assistant, built directly into the operating system rather than as a separate app.
Nubia NaviX Ultra AI Phone
The phone uses something called a GUI Agent system. Instead of faking taps and swipes like older automation tools, it reads what is on the screen and works with apps directly through special connection methods known as MCP and A2A protocols.
Nubia says the AI is built on four ideas: understanding natural language, finishing real-world tasks, remembering context from past use, and keeping user data safe.
On top of that, there is a dedicated orange button on the side of the phone, and pressing it gives instant access to the AI assistant.

Nubia NaviX Specifications
The specifications of the phone are based on rumours and leaks, as the full specifications have not been confirmed yet, but leaks point to strong hardware.
Leaks and reports suggest it will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, a 6.78-inch screen with 1.5K resolution, and a fast 144Hz refresh rate.
The phone is expected to feature a large 7,100mAh battery, which is bigger than most flagship phones.
For photography, on the back, there is expected to be a triple 50MP camera setup, placed in a horizontal bar that looks similar to Google’s Pixel phones. The front camera is also tipped at 50MP.

A Predecessor That Sold Out
The NaviX Ultra builds on an earlier limited device called the Nubia M153. That phone sold out its first batch of 30,000 units within a day in December 2025.

However, that same device also faced problems. Popular Chinese apps like WeChat blocked the AI assistant from working inside them, showing that not everyone welcomes an AI agent poking around their apps.
Still Some Questions Left
Nubia has not shared the final price or release date. The company also claims most AI processing happens on the device itself for privacy, though reports suggest some of the AI’s deeper thinking still relies on cloud servers.
Other companies like Honor and StepFun showed similar AI agent phones at the same event, so Nubia’s world’s first claim may not stay unique for long.
