Xiaomi Poco F7 5G Review: Is it the Next Gaming Beast?

Poco has always marketed itself as a complete powerhouse for gamers, and the new Xiaomi Poco F7 5G is already making the right noise in the mid-range smartphone market. Poco is positioning this smartphone as a gaming powerhouse, and looking at the specs, it is easy to see why. The phone packs a 7,500 mAh battery and the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, the same chip found in premium phones priced at ₹80,000 and above.

So the big question is — how is Poco offering all these incredible features at such an aggressive price point? Have they made any compromises? And most importantly, is it actually worth your money?

In this post, we will take a deeper dive into the Xiaomi Poco F7 5G review to see what it shines, where it falls short, and whether it truly delivers. Let’s get started.

Design and Build

I tested the white color variant, though Poco also sells a gaming edition with a more aggressive look. The design feels premium with a glass back panel and metallic frame. Now, let me tell you, this is a combination you won’t usually see at this price point.

However, at 217 grams, the phone is slightly heavy. At times, I felt almost like carrying a small power bank with me.

The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. If you remember, last year’s Poco used Victus. Now, Victus is stronger, but at this price point, the 7i is still a viable option. You also get IP68 and IP69 ratings, a rare addition at this price. One letdown, though, is the haptic motor, which gives off a mid-range phone feel rather than a flagship.

Display and Entertainment

Now, this is where the Poco F7 shines. The 12-bit AMOLED panel supports Dolby Vision on Netflix and plays 4K HDR on YouTube without a hiccup. Watching shows and movies feels premium, especially with the stereo speakers.

That said, I wish Poco had kept a 3.5mm headphone jack. It is 2025, and most smartphone brands have already moved away from it, pushing users toward wireless audio. For gamers, however, a wired connection still makes a noticeable difference as it provides zero-latency sound during competitive matches and allows longer play sessions without worrying about Bluetooth battery drain.

On the bright side, you get an IR blaster to control devices like ACs and TVs. While this is an extra, but I would have preferred both.

Performance

Now, let’s talk about the Performance. The Poco F7 comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.1 storage. Many flagship phones still run UFS 4.0, so that’s a pleasant surprise.

Gaming performance is top-notch. You can run heavy titles at 120 FPS with HDR Ultra graphics, and the phone barely heats, thanks to improved thermal management.

Features like pass-through charging (which lets you play while plugged in without killing the battery health) and detailed performance graphs in the gaming zone show how gamer-focused this device really is.

Poco ships the phone with Hyper OS on Android 15 and promises 3 years of major updates and up to 7 years of security patches. HyperOS is feature-rich, but if you were to ask me, it still has some bugs. Having used it for over a year on other devices, I can say it gets the job done, but Poco could polish it further.

Cameras

For a phone priced at INR 30,000, the camera setup feels somewhat underwhelming. While it is capable of capturing basic shots, it struggles in several key areas. The dynamic range is limited, making bright highlights and deep shadows less balanced in photos.

Skin tones can appear inconsistent across different lighting conditions, which is particularly noticeable in portrait shots. Selfies, too, often lack the natural detail and vibrancy that one would expect at this price point.

On the positive side, edge detection performs reasonably well, and the transition between the ultra-wide, standard 1x, and 2x zoom lenses maintains decent color consistency. However, sharpness and fine detail are lacking, which can make images feel flat or slightly soft.

Overall, while the camera may suffice for casual use, it does not quite match the expectations for a mid-range device in 2025, especially for users who prioritize photography.

Video performance is average, and while the front camera works well for casual shots, it cannot shoot in 4K, which feels like an unnecessary limitation. If cameras are your priority, you will find better options in this price range.

Battery Life

This is where the Xiaomi Poco F7 5G redeems itself. The 7,500 mAh battery is massive and is probably the largest in any mainstream phone in India right now.

With normal use, you can easily get 1.5 to 2 days of battery life. For heavy gaming sessions (5–6 hours straight), it will still last a full day. Charging is also quick with the 90W fast charger. In just 15–20 minutes, you get enough juice for a day’s worth of regular usage.

So, Is the Poco F7’s Price Justified?

The Poco F7 is a smartphone made for serious users and gamers who demand more than average performance. It combines a massive 7,500 mAh battery with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, delivering flagship-grade speed and efficiency at a mid-range price in India, around INR 30,000.

The design feels premium, with IP68 and IP69 durability ratings, while the Dolby Vision display and stereo speakers make it one of the most enjoyable phones for streaming, gaming, and everyday use.

Pros
  • Massive 7,500 mAh battery with 90W fast charging
  • 12-bit AMOLED display with Dolby Vision
  • Premium design with glass back
Cons
  • Underwhelming cameras
  • Slightly heavy at 217 grams

Where the Poco F7 falls short is in its cameras. The performance is underwhelming compared to other phones in this price range. If photography is your top priority, this will not be the right device. But if you are searching for the best gaming phone under INR 30,000 in 2025 with outstanding battery life, smooth performance, and an immersive entertainment experience, the Xiaomi Poco F7 is a strong and practical choice.
