Qualcomm has officially confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset will be launched on November 26, 2025. The unveiling is set to take place in China before the chipset reaches the global market. The launch of this chipset was announced after the debut of the Snapdragon Elite Gen 5. It’s worth noting that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will be an affordable alternative to Qualcomm’s flagship lineup – Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Specs
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will feature an octa-core CPU, comprising two cores clocked at 3.8GHz and six cores running at a frequency between 3.32GHz and 3.36GHz. powered by the Adreno 840 GPU. Interestingly, this GPU is also in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and thus you can expect good gaming performance in this new Snapdragon chipset. That said, the Gen 5 chipset has been tuned for moderate power consumption to differentiate it from the top-tier Elite version.
Smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
For the global rollout of this chipset, the OnePlus Ace 6T is confirmed to be the first phone to have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 under the hood. This points out that OnePlus is focusing on providing performance-focused phones starting from the mid to high premium range. The Vivo S50 Pro Mini is also rumoured to be one of the devices with this chipset.
Other rumoured phones with this chipset can include new entries from Motorola and possibly other devices too, which we will get to know after the chipset launches. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is expected to support up to 8,000mAh battery capacity and a high refresh rate screen up to 165Hz. Needlessly to say, these features will align perfectly with the flagships and upper mid-range smartphones.
