This Instagram Upcoming Feature Will Redefine Your Feed

Adam Mosseri, the Head of Instagram, has just introduced a feature that could completely reshape your Reels experience. Called “Your Algorithm”, this new tool gives users the power to choose what they want to see on their feed.

Announced on December 10, 2025, through Mosseri’s official page, the feature uses AI to bring more transparency at a time when users are asking for greater control over their social media feeds. It is available only in the US for now, with a wider rollout expected soon.

How Instagram’s ‘Your Algorithm’ Works

The new feature will add a new icon on the top right of the Reels player. The new icon will be two lines with hearts, and after clicking on that, the “Your Algorithm” tab will open, which will be an AI-generated summary of topics Instagram thinks you are interested in based on your previous algorithm based on likes, shares, watches, or skips.

For example, the topics would be like Creativity, Sports hype, Fitness Motivation, Skateboarding, MMA, etc. Users will be allowed to upvote the topics they are interested in seeing in their feed and downvote others to dial them down.

Bigger Picture and Rollout

Instagram will not keep this feature limited to Reels, it plans to expand to Explore and other sections of the app down the line. The move is seen to remove unwanted content from your feed and make it more of what you like. It puts control directly in your hands while allowing Instagram to keep its strong discovery experience intact.

This feature looks like an interesting one for sure. With the US rollout, we can expect it to rollout globally soon. This is a big step towards personalising the Reels feed for users and more like making it their own small world by choosing what they want to view.

Why It Matters Now

With the growing technology and people’s attention span lowering, it is important to introduce a feature like this, which will help the users customize their feeds just by clicking on the “Your Algorithm” icon, which will keep the scrollers hooked longer by ditching irrelevant clips, which can benefit creators through better-targeted reach

As per the early testers, the feature is working smoothly with more relevant Reels sessions, which hints towards a stickier arrangement across 2 billion+ users.
