Apple has officially unveiled the MacBook Neo on March 4, 2026, introducing what it calls its most affordable MacBook yet and bringing to life rumours about an affordable MacBook. The MacBook Neo is designed to attract students and everyday users by making the macOS ecosystem more accessible.
The pre-orders for the MacBook Neo went live immediately following the announcement, and shipping is scheduled to begin on March 11, 2026. It’s worth noting that the MacBook Neo is an entirely new MacBook lineup since the introduction of the MacBook Air.

Apple MacBook Neo Specifications
The MacBook Neo features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with 500 nits brightness and support for 1 billion colors. In addition, the display includes True Tone tech, which adjusts to ambient light for comfortable viewing throughout the day.
Interestingly, Apple MacBook Neo runs on the A18 Pro chip, the same processor first introduced in iPhones. It packs a 6-core CPU, a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine, bringing smartphone-grade efficiency to a laptop. This combination is further paired with 8GB unified memory.
You can expect up to 16 hours of web browsing or 14 hours of video playback on a single charge. The A18 Pro chip, combined with optimized software, delivers all-day power without the need for a fan, keeping things silent.

MacBook Neo features a 1080p FaceTime HD camera with a wide-angle lens for video calls. It includes dual spatial audio speakers, while a three-microphone array with beamforming is designed to capture your voice clearly during calls and meetings.
In terms of ports, there are two USB-C ports, one at USB 3 speeds for fast data transfer, while the other operates at USB 2 speeds and is primarily used for handling charging and accessories. Interestingly, there is also a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired audio.

For wireless connectivity, this MacBook supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6 for reliable wireless connections.
Last but not least, the MacBook Neo runs on macOS Tahoe, which comes integrated with Apple Intelligence features for writing and image generation.
Apple MacBook Neo: Pricing and Availability
The Apple MacBook Neo’s price starts around $599, with a special education price of $499. In India, the pricing will start at INR 69,900.
Buyers can further reduce the effective cost through trade-in offers. Additionally, AppleCare+ is available for extended warranty coverage and accidental damage protection at an extra cost.
