All You Need to Know About Nothing OS 4.0 Rollout: Features, Release Date, and Improvements 

Nothing has finally announced the rollout date for the Nothing OS 4.0, which is based on Android 16. The official rollout will start on November 21, 2025, with the flagship Nothing Phone (3) getting the first update.

The new version is expected to focus on AI enhancements and system optimisations that can make multitasking smoother and provide better overall performance.

AI features in Nothing OS 4.0

The Nothing OS 4.0 comes with a standout feature — Dual Pop-up View. This one enables users to run two resizable app windows simultaneously for enhancing multitasking ability. The system also introduces an Extra Dark Mode, which is designed to reduce eye strain during extended usage and improve battery efficiency on OLED displays.

For the photography fans, Nothing is coming up with the new “Stretch” camera preset, which is created in collaboration with photographer Jordan Hemingway. The preset adds cinematic effects with deeper shadows and extended highlights. The Camera and the Gallery apps have also been revamped for a better experience.

Nothing has kept privacy a major priority with AI control. It features an AI usage dashboard that helps inform users about AI app activity, ensuring transparency and control. The lock screens are customisable with the new “Lock Glimpse” feature, which delivers curated wallpaper and timely updates, but remains disabled by default to protect the privacy of the user.

Expected Performance of the Nothing OS 4.0

If we talk about the expected performance improvements, they include faster app startup time, smoother system responsiveness, and optimised connectivity via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The UI has been powered with cleaner, quicker settings, new lock screen clock styles and enhanced Always-On Display functionality.

The Nothing OS 4.0 rollout will cover other Nothing phones, including the Phone 2, Phone 2a, Phone 3a, and their variants, with phased updates expected for the CMF sub-brand phones later. Nothing has engaged its community extensively through beta tests before this launch, ensuring a smooth and user-focused release. 

Overall, Nothing OS 4.0 brings a fresh, sleek, and intelligent interface while balancing aesthetics, usability, and privacy, marking an evolution in the Nothing ecosystem that aligns well with modern Android advancements.
