MediaTek MWC 2026 Showcase: AI, Imaging, and Automotive Innovations

Mobile World Congress (MWC) has always been a stage for some of the biggest technology breakthroughs, and MWC 2026 was no different. And this year, the spotlight was on Agentic AI and next-generation connectivity.

One of the key players at the event was MediaTek, which brought a strong lineup of technology solutions to MWC 2026. From smart AI glasses and advancements in the automotive space to AI-powered smartphone chipsets, the semiconductor company showcased how AI and connectivity are becoming central to modern devices.

Here is a closer look at some of the key innovations that MediaTek showcased at MWC 2026. Watch in detail here.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500

The Dimensity 9500 is MediaTek’s latest flagship chipset, and the photography improvements alone are worth talking about. We are in an era where everyone wants to zoom in without losing the details. MediaTek’s answer is AI-powered telephoto capture that can process up to 200 megapixels of detail. This translates into photos and videos that hold up details, textures and clarity extremely well, even in extreme zoom.

At the same time, the powerful NPU built into the Dimensity 9500 unlocks advanced on-device AI capabilities. So, AI tasks run directly on the device rather than relying on the cloud. This results in faster processing and better privacy & security (since sensitive data stays on the device).

AI Glasses

Beyond smartphones and tablets, the MediaTek Dimensity 9500’s AI prowess also extends to AI glasses. With real-time processing, these wearables can instantly analyze what is in front of the camera and help deliver useful insights and information, making the augmented reality experience feel far more natural and intuitive.

The combination of the Dimensity 9500’s advanced image processing and powerful on-device AI help the glasses process and understand what is being viewed, which it relays in real time.

In short, the Dimensity 9500 marks a notable step forward in both mobile imaging and on-device AI processing.

MediaTek Dimensity Auto

MediaTek also highlighted its latest developments in the connected vehicle space. The Dimensity Auto Connect Platform MT2739, for instance, is one of the first 5G-Advanced cellular modems for vehicles.

It supports 3GPP Release 17 and Release 18 standards and integrates modem AI tech, helping deliver more reliable and efficient cellular connectivity for vehicles. It also integrates 5G NR-NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) technologies, which let the vehicle seamlessly switch between cellular and satellite connectivity. Naturally, this helps maintain strong call quality with low latency, even in areas where traditional network coverage is limited.

As a matter of fact, the company also showcased the first 5G NR NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) video call in the automotive segment.

Another highlight in MediaTek’s automotive portfolio is the Dimensity Auto CX1 smart cockpit platform. Built on a 3nm automotive-grade process, the platform includes an Arm v9.2-based CPU, advanced GPU capabilities to facilitate high-quality media streaming and even console-level gaming with ray tracing inside the car.

Apart from that, the platform also brings AI capabilities through its high-performance NPU. This enables generative AI features such as natural-language voice agents, making it easier to control in-car systems through simple, hands-free voice commands.

The Big Picture

The AI era is here, and companies like MediaTek are truly pushing the boundaries of what modern devices – be it a car or glasses – can do. The bigger picture is clear: a future where everyday devices are smarter and more connected.
